Dr. Laurie Marbas Grand River welcomes new physician,
Laurie Marbas, MD

Grand River Hospital and Medical Center proudly welcomes Laurie Marbas, MD, who is the newest addition to their medical team.

After spending her childhood in New Mexico, she received her undergraduate education at the University of Portland.  For graduate and medical school, Marbas ventured to Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

From there, Dr. Marbas joined the United States Air Force and was a distinguished graduate from the USAF Commissioned Officer Training.

For the past four years, Dr. Marbas has been serving her country at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia as a family medicine physician.  In her time there, she dealt with a wide range of diseases and injuries, as well as helping Air Force personnel stay healthy and in shape.  She also spent some time deployed in the Middle East with the USAF.

Dr. Marbas serves as a Health Expert for Lance Armstrong’s website, www.livestrong.com.  On this site, she contributes editorials about various health issues, such as diabetes and hypothyroidism.

A published author, Dr. Marbas has written seven books, including one covering clinical procedures and a book series with visual mnemonics for various medical studies.

In early June, Dr. Marbas began seeing patients at Grand River Hospital and Medical Center in Rifle.  She and her family have purchased a home in Battlement Mesa and are excited to begin meeting community members and getting involved in the area.

Dr. Marbas and her husband, Patrick, have three children, Emily, 16, Jonathon, 14, and Gabriel, 11.  They look forward to getting settled in their new home in Western Garfield County and enjoying the outdoors, scenery, and all Colorado has to offer.
