Since 1976, Western Garfield County’s Meals on Wheels program has provided low-cost nutritious meals to homebound elderly and disabled individuals in New Castle, Silt, Rifle, and Parachute / Battlement Mesa. With the aid of community volunteers, Grand River Hospital District assists in providing delicious noontime home delivered meals at a reasonable price.

For the past several years, 80% of clients have received either full or partial subsidization to assist them in paying for their meals. Grand River Hospital District manages Meals on Wheels as a community service through absorption of operational costs, but relies on donations from individuals and businesses to cover subsidized meals and mileage for volunteer drivers, who are the cornerstone of our successful program.
