It's more than just a meal

Meals on Wheels offers more than a good meal.  It offers companionship, nutrition, comfort, sharing, support, dignity, independence, and care to those
who need it.

March for Meals is our annual fundraising campaign and we hope to raise funds to help support this program and the clients and volunteers who take part. During the month of March, you will be hearing a lot about Meals on Wheels and how it helps our community.

During the month of March, Taco Bell Restaurants in Rifle and Glenwood Springs will be asking for donations with orders. Donate, put your name on a car to be hung in the restaurant, and join the March for Meals!

You will also see volunteers at the Rifle City Market every Saturday during the month with information about the program.

Businesses in the area will be receiving information on Box Lunches for Meals.  For a minimum donation dependent on how many lunches are needed, they can choose a day in March to treat their employees or another organization to box lunches, delivered to the location of their choice.

Mayors from New Castle, Silt, Rifle, and Parachute will be delivering meals to local citizens in their community in March, showing their support for the program.

The Grand River Gallop, a run/walk, will be taking place on April 10, also raising money for the Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels of Western Garfield County delivers over 800 meals a month to the elderly, disabled, and recovering in New Castle, Silt, Rifle, Parachute, and Battlement Mesa. With the help of volunteers, we are able to provide comfort, care, and nutritious, delicious meals to people who need it right here in our communities.

Each meal is prepared fresh every day and keeps with the diet and tastes of each individual.  Meals are never frozen.

In addition to food, we also offer Books to Go in partnership with Garfield County Library District.  This program will deliver books to those who are interested along with their Meals on Wheels delivery.

New this year is Portion for Pets.
Thanks to a grant from Banfield/Petco, we are able to offer those with pets dry dog or cat food delivery once a week.

But we can’t do all of this alone.

We hope you will take part in our March for Meals. Every dollar makes a difference and there is no donation too small.

Grand River is proud to offer Meals on Wheels, serving meals to homebound individuals in Parachute, Battlement Mesa, Rifle, Silt and New Castle.
