Inpatient Med-Surg Acute Care Unit

At Grand River’s Acute Care Unit, we offer our community compassionate, quality patient care close to home. Our patients speak very highly of our care, compassion, and quality services they receive. We are not a sprawling unit, and because of this, we can give patients the attention they deserve.

Patients on the Acute Care Unit receive around the clock nursing care. We have four double rooms, two private rooms, one isolation room, and two higher acuity rooms in our Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Unit that allows us to provide care for patients of all ages with general acute medical conditions and patients recovering from surgery. Depending on the patient’s needs and condition, specialists, including therapists, social workers, nutritionists, and other medical professionals provide services often right at the patient’s bedside. Our staff is able to provide specialized monitoring for patients who need it with the use of portable, wireless equipment right in the patient’s room. This allows nursing staff to closely watch the patient’s vital signs and other important health information.

We believe that seeing family and friends during a hospital stay is an important part of the patient’s overall recovery. For this reason, visitors can come any time, day or night, and overnight stays can be arranged by the nursing staff depending on patient volumes.

We love children and small infants and they are welcome in the Acute Care Unit, but we advise their parents to be aware that since we are in a hospital, they may be exposed to communicable diseases.

If you or a loved one comes and stays in our Acute Care Unit, you can expect to be treated with care and compassion. Our experienced nursing staff strives to make sure you are comfortable and getting anything you may need.
