GRHD serves a large portion of Western Garfield County, Colorado. The main communities served by the District are Rifle, Silt, and Parachute. Our headquarters is located in Rifle, Colorado, which is 23 miles west of Glenwood Springs, two hours west of Vail, and 1 1/2 hours from Aspen. Rifle has about 7000 people. Altogether, the District encompasses about 18,000 residents, a number that is rapidly growing. If you love the outdoors, you'll love Rifle. We are an outdoor lovers paradise, with rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, ice climbing, boating, golfing, wind surfing, rafting and more available. We are in the foothills, where we enjoy the benefits of the mountains in the summertime, without too much heat, and we enjoy the temperance of the plains in the wintertime, with less snow and warmer temperatures than our neighbors to the east.
